Belarus frees 25 more prisoners in return for easing of US sanctions

Translate

Belarus will release 25 prisoners in a deal with the US that will see Washington lift sanctions on two Belarusian companies, Belarusian state news agency BELTA reported on Wednesday, after talks in Minsk between Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko and US envoy John Coale.

BELTA cited Coale as saying that more prisoners would be released and more sanctions lifted once all issues between the US and Belarus, a close Russian ally, have been resolved.

Trump's envoy John Coale later confirmed that the 25 prisoners had been released in a post on X.
