Remains of missing man found near river in Benguet town
BAGUIO CITY — Search and rescue teams on Monday (September 7) have recovered the remains of a 29-year-old Kibungan town resident of Barangay Sagubo in Benguet province, who had been missing since September 3.
Raul Aludos Juan was found at around 2 p.m. in the Sagilic area of Kaliwaga, Barangay Gaswiling, along the Manahongkong River, according to the Kapangan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

Juan’s remains were brought to his home in Barangay Sagubo, where his family will make arrangements for his funeral.

Juan was reported missing to the Kapangan MDRRMO on September 5, prompting an initial search by barangay officials and community volunteers. The municipal disaster office later activated its search and rescue team and coordinated with other responding agencies and the La Union towns of Bagulin and Naguilian.
Based on the initial reports, the individual might have been swept away by water current along the river between the boundary of Gaswiling and Sagubo. Authorities believe the individual went to the river to catch fish as fishing equipment were later found in the area. /jpv
