KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — National men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun crashed out of the Korea Open after falling to South Korea’s world No. 1 combination of Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in the semi-finals today.
The third-seeded Malaysians, ranked world No. 9, went down 17-21, 17-21 to the home favourites in a 39-minute battle at Jinnam Stadium in Yeosu.
The defeat extended Wei Chong-Kai Wun’s losing streak against the top-seeded Koreans to seven consecutive matches, starting with the Orleans Masters 2025.
The Malaysian pair had also suffered defeats to the Koreans at the Japan Open 2025, World Championships 2025, French Open 2025, BWF World Tour Finals 2025 and Malaysia Open 2026.
Their exit also brings Malaysia’s campaign in the Super 500 tournament to an end, with no other national shuttlers remaining in the Korea Open. — Bernama
