The summer window is stepping up as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all work on more signings before the deadline. Arsenal are said to be plotting a shock bid for Jack Hinshelwood as they continue to chase England duo Ezri Konsa and Jarell Quansah, while Victor Osimhen could yet become Mikel Arteta’s statement attacking signing as the Gunners also remain in the race for Julian Alvarez.

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Joaquin Seys as an alternative to Lewis Hall, while they are also eyeing Eduardo Camavinga and Carlos Baleba. Chelsea could return with another offer for Alex Scott as they prepare to sanction a raft of further exits potentially including Pedro Neto, while Liverpool have been offered new hope over Bradley Barcola as they also close in on a contract agreement with Rio Ngumoha.

Arteta drops triple Arsenal transfer hint with team selection

Arsenal trio Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri have all been left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad for the Community Shield amid ongoing doubts over their respective futures at the club, writes Dom Smith in Cardiff.

All three players were omitted from the 20-man group named by Arteta for Sunday’s annual season curtain-raiser between the Premier League champions and FA Cup holders, taking place at the Principality Stadium.

Martinelli’s camp have informed Arsenal that the winger has no interest in joining Turkish club Galatasaray following a bid in the region of £38m that was tabled last week, but the Gunners are still looking for an exit for the Brazilian.

Aston Villa to sign Zion Suzuki as Juventus bid for Emiliano Martinez

An agreement between Aston Villa and Parma for Japan goalkeeper Suzuki has now been reached, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

He says the move is worth an initial €30m, with future add-ons taking the overall value of the deal up to around €35m.

Suzuki is believed to have agreed a five-year contract with the Europa League winners after PSG ended their interest.

Ornstein had first reported that Villa had received a new offer from Juventus - also linked with Suzuki - for Martinez worth an initial €7m, plus €3m in add-ons.

However, Villa are said to want a €10m fee up front for the Argentine, with personal terms not an issue.

Aston Villa close to Zion Suzuki deal

Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

The Europa League holders have emerged as surprise frontrunners to acquire the Japan international in recent days after PSG abandoned their own move.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Villa already have an agreement on personal terms with Suzuki and are close to sealing a package with Parma worth around £30m.

Such a move could see Emiliano Martinez head to Juventus, who had also been linked with Suzuki and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario.

Amar Dedic set for Newcastle medical as transfer agreed

While Joao Palhinha will not be heading to Newcastle for the moment, it seems that Amar Dedic definitely is.

The Magpies lined up Benfica’s Bosnian right-back as their next summer signing earlier this week with Tino Livramento still sidelined with the calf injury that forced him to miss England’s World Cup campaign and required an operation.

Sky Sports report this morning that a deal worth £29.5m has now been agreed, with Dedic set to fly to Tyneside on Monday in order to undergo a medical.

Sebastien Pocognoli agrees deal to become next Scotland manager

Sebastien Pocognoli will become the new manager of Scotland.

The Belgian boss emerged this week as the leading candidate to succeed Steve Clarke, who stepped down in June following a disappointing World Cup campaign in North America.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Pocognoli has now agreed a deal with the Scottish Football Association (SFA) as Graeme Murty prepares to take over the Under-21s.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco manager, 39, will become only Scotland’s second-ever foreign head coach and first since German Berti Vogts, who led them between 2002-04.

Tottenham target three attackers before transfer deadline

Tottenham’s interest in Nicolas Jackson appears to stem from Roberto De Zerbi’s desire to add three more faces to his squad to complete an ambitious summer recruitment drive.

Big-spending Spurs have so far made six new signings in this window and spent in excess of £230m, but are now focused on securing attacking reinforcements before the September 1 transfer deadline.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham want to sign a new central striker in addition to deals for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and Manchester City winger Savinho.

Tottenham eye deal for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson

Tottenham want to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegal international is expected to leave Stamford Bridge once again before the summer transfer deadline after returning from his loan spell at Bayern Munich.

Aston Villa have been in talks over Jackson after signing Alejandro Garnacho on loan from Chelsea earlier in the window, while journalist Fabrice Hawkins also says that Spurs are monitoring the situation along with Atletico Madrid.

However, it seems that Chelsea’s £60m asking price is currently presenting a real issue to interested clubs.

Man City to complete Ayyoub Bouaddi deal

Manchester City are set to sign Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Talks for Lille’s teenage sensation to move to the Etihad Stadium have been ongoing for several weeks now.

An impressive World Cup campaign saw interest in Bouaddi increase, with Arsenal among the clubs said to be interested in his signature before City quickly emerged as the frontrunners.

Per the Daily Mail, City - who did not move for Enzo Fernandez before Chelsea’s self-imposed Friday deadline but have not yet ruled out an offer - are now close to wrapping up a deal for the 18-year-old worth around £85m after Barcelona made a third approach for Rodri valued at £60m.

Negotiations over Bouaddi were confirmed on Saturday by Lille boss Davide Ancelotti.

Joao Palhinha to Newcastle transfer latest

It looks like Joao Palhinha to Newcastle won’t be happening - not for now at least.

The Magpies appeared to had pivoted to the ex-Tottenham loanee as their new top midfield option to replace Bruno Guimaraes, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg choosing to remain at Marseille.

Newcastle looked to have potentially won the race for Palhinha on a permanent deal, with Aston Villa seeing a loan offer rejected by Bayern Munich.

However, The Telegraph now report that while the Portugal international has indeed been offered to Newcastle, there are currently no active talks and a deal is not expected to progress as things stand.

Sidiki Cherif undergoing Coventry medical

It’s turning out to be a big weekend on the transfer front for newly-promoted Coventry as the Championship winners prepare for their first Premier League season since 2001, which begins away to champions Arsenal on Friday night.

Frank Lampard is boosting his squad with the addition of Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi after a £17m deal was agreed with Nottingham Forest for the ex-Liverpool man.

Coventry are now closing in on another new signing, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Guinean striker Sidiki Cherif is undergoing a medical today ahead of a £20.5m switch from Fenerbahce to the Ricoh Arena.

Cherif only joined Fenerbahce from French club Angers in January on an initial loan deal that included an obligation to buy this summer, with Crystal Palace having seen a £17m bid for his services rejected before that switch.
