This is the moment two burglars broke into an Ann Summers store before making off with £12,000 worth of lingerie and sex toys.

CCTV footage captured partners in crime Jason Kamal, 48, and 21-year-old Ashley Hillsley smashing their way into Nottingham's Long Row branch of the store during the early hours of August 14.

The pair - who donned gloves and high-visibility clothing - ripped an alarm panel from the store's wall and damaged its stockroom before loading £12,059 of goods, including negligees and sex toys, into a vehicle.

After reports of a burglary in progress at around 4.32am, police raced to the scene within three minutes, forcing the duo to flee.

Officers detained both men, with body-cam footage showing them discovering a huge stash of Ann Summers stock in the boot of Hillsley's car.

Kamal initially denied entering the shop despite his face being visible on CCTV, while Hillsley said he was bullied into the burglary and his primary role was to be on lookout and assist.

He said he was told he would receive a large sum of money and no longer be 'a nobody.'

In addition to the Ann Summers theft, Kamal was also arrested on suspicion of another burglary at Professional Mobile in Arnold, Nottingham, on July 28, where electronic devices worth £13,000 were stolen.

He had left a vape at the scene of the crime - which was covered in his DNA - and the phone he was using was one stolen from the store.

He was also linked to four other break-ins at several other stores.

Kamal, of no fixed address, and Hillsley, of Mansfield, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday, October 15.

Kamal admitted six counts of burglary while Hillsley pleaded guilty to one count of burglary.

Kamal was jailed for three years and Hillsley was handed an 18-month community order with a probation requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work.

Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: 'The officers called to this incident did a fantastic job of detaining two suspects within minutes of the call coming in.

'Not only that but they recovered the stolen items taken from Ann Summers.

'These are not mastermind criminals, quite the opposite, who had no chance whatsoever of getting away with this crime.

'All the evidence pointed to them where they had no other option than plead guilty to the offence at court.

'Kamal was also caught for another burglary after he left his vape at the scene and was using one of the phones he had stolen.

'Business crime is not a victimless crime.

'Our officers carried out extensive work to ensure this case got to court and to ensure the owners and staff of these businesses received the justice they deserved.'
