Peñafrancia traslacion in Naga City peaceful amid tight security

LEGAZPI CITY — The annual Traslacion procession of Our Lady of Peñafrancia in Naga City remained peaceful and orderly on Friday (Sept. 11), with 820,000 devotees joining the religious event.
Heightened security measures included the deployment of police personnel along the procession route, with officers using placards, megaphones and Oplan Bandillo to remind devotees to secure their belongings.
CCTV cameras, drones and Starlink devices were also used to monitor the crowd and improve communication among police units.

Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, Bicol police director, personally monitored security operations in strategic areas and reminded police personnel to remain alert, courteous and responsive to devotees.
“The peaceful and orderly conduct of the Traslacion is a shared accomplishment, with the cooperation of devotees, police, local government units, government agencies, volunteers and force multipliers,” Silvio said.
He also commended police personnel and partner agencies for their professionalism and dedication, adding that security operations would continue until the end of the Peñafrancia Festival. INQ
