Nintendo has a lot going on with AAA offerings and indies on the Nintendo Switch 2. For the former, Nintendo typically announces them through their Nintendo Direct series, which gets the entire gaming community excited about what could be, or what won't be, shown off.
Compared to pretty much any publisher, Nintendo has that certain "it" factor when it comes to their mystique, as they could bring back a beloved franchise at any moment. If a Nintendo Direct announced a new F-Zero game for Switch 2, you bet we'd be hearing about it for weeks on end. The same goes for a new Smash Bros. title, or a new Zelda entry.
But thankfully, Nintendo also allows indies to breathe a bit more than in the past with its own showcase. Thanks to a new X post from Nintendo, we know exactly when the October 2026 Indie World Showcase starts, and how to watch it.
Nintendo Indie World Showcase Start Times
Nintendo has just announced yet another Indie World Showcase, making it the 27th broadcast overall, including all the Japan-only streams and special Indie World Showcase events. It's quite a showing for a series that obviously only started in 2017, and is still going strong.
Here's all that Nintendo is saying about the stream right now: "Join us on October 28, 2026, at 7am PT for a new Indie World Showcase! Tune in for roughly 15 minutes of new announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch."
Here are the timezones:
- 7AM PT
- 8AM MT
- 9AM CT
- 10AM ET
- 2PM GMT
- 3AM New Zealand
If you haven't watched a Nintendo Indie World Showcase before, it's essentially a mini-Direct stream focused entirely on indie games, typically third-party titles.
Nintendo holds Indie World Showcases roughly two to three times a year, with the last Showcase taking place on March 3, 2026. Previous showcases include August 2025, August 2024, and April 2024, but the event has been running since 2017, following the release of the Humble Nindie Bundle in 2015.
To give you an idea of what to expect, we featured games from Drinkbox Studios, Dogubomb, Raw Fury, Klei Entertainment, SoulGame Studio, Prophecy Games, and Fireshine Games. Many fan favorites this year were announced or featured in the Indie World Showcase streams, including the train action game Denshattack and Toem 2. Indie darlings like Grave Seasons also make the cut.
Where To Watch The Nintendo Indie World Showcase
Nintendo is currently telling fans to check out their stream on YouTube, but the publisher also has a Twitch channel. On October 28 at 10AM ET, we'll see what Nintendo and their third-party partners have in store for the holiday season and beyond.
Note that oftentimes, the Indie World Showcase is dumped all at once, so you can scrub to the end to see if there's another wild third-party release. Otherwise, expect lots of Nintendo Switch 2 news tomorrow morning, US time.
