WATCH | KZN residents ‘bury’ ANC in hilarious funeral stunt

Translate

The ANC may still be alive, but some KwaZulu-Natal residents have already held its funeral!

A group of residents staged a mock funeral for the party on Thursday, 5 November, complete with a coffin, funeral hymns and mourners.

The video has since gone viral, drawing laughter and mixed reactions from South Africans.

WATCH: ANC gets a dramatic send-off

The footage, shared by NewsNexusOfficial on TikTok, shows residents carrying a cardboard coffin draped in an ANC flag and decorated with yellow flowers.

A man dressed in pastoral robes leads the procession as the group sings burial hymns.

And the mourners certainly played their part.

After placing the makeshift coffin on the ground, participants drop to their knees, wailing as they pretend to grieve the party’s demise.

ANC takes a knock in KZN

The unusual send-off followed Wednesday’s local government elections, which saw the ANC suffer major losses in KwaZulu-Natal.

Former president Jacob Zuma’s MK Party has made major gains in the province, followed by Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), thus challenging the ANC in several of its former strongholds.

While the IEC has yet to declare the final national results, some KZN residents clearly aren’t waiting to say their goodbyes.
