As the Southeastern Conference (SEC) filed a lawsuit against the LSU football program for the team attempting to put on the roster and field players who had been on NFL rosters, a recent meeting took place that might've had some relevant information. While there was talk of whether the SEC would meet to expel the LSU football program from the conference, the latest statement lacks any detail on what the next steps are.

According to the latest statement from the SEC, it says that presidents and chancellors from member institutions of the conference met on Thursday, with discussions to continue as they "work toward an appropriate resolution."

"The presidents and chancellors of the Southeastern Conference met Thursday by videoconference to discuss recent matters involving conference expectations and responsibilities. Those discussions will continue as the Conference and its member universities work toward an appropriate resolution," the SEC's statement read.

All in all, it says there isn't a resolution on the Tigers and whether further action will be taken, with ESPN insider Pete Thamel reporting that LSU president Wade Rousse actually joined the meeting, "but only briefly" since they're under "pending federal litigation."

"LSU president Wade Rousse joined the SEC presidents and chancellors call today, but only briefly, per ESPN sources," Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "He explained to the participants that in light of the pending federal litigation, of which he and LSU are named defendants, that he was advised by council not to participate."

Rousse, head coach Lane Kiffin, and the LSU football program are listed as defendants in the lawsuit by the SEC, as it remains to be seen what happens next. The Tigers focus on following the 51-10 beatdown of Clemson as Week 2 finds the team facing Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
