Chelsea to debut new retro kit against Everton inspired by cult classic

Xabi Alonso’s side head to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off in the top-flight, looking to build on their 5-1 rout of Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge that made it a happy return following an extended three-week international break.

The match will represent the first time this season that Chelsea have had to venture outside of London for a game, and it will also mark the debut of the club’s 2026/27 third kit.

The retro-inspired white strip is manufactured by Nike, featuring blue trim on the neck and sleeves, as well as vertical red pinstripes.

A retro Chelsea crest is on the left of the shirt, just along from the gold ‘World Champions’ badge that commemorates last summer’s Club World Cup triumph, which will be worn on all Chelsea kits up to the next edition of the competition in 2029.

The kit - which is completed by white shorts and socks with blue trim - is inspired by Chelsea’s away efforts of the 1980s and 1990s and pays particular homage to their initially divisive 1992/93 away strip, which became a fan favourite and cult classic made by Umbro that featured Commodore as the sponsor.

It is also said to “celebrate more than 30 years since both Nike and the Blues emerged as global football powerhouses”.

Chelsea’s only previous games away from home this season were the 3-2 win at Fulham and the defeats by Arsenal and Brentford, all matches in the Premier League.

Against Fulham and Arsenal, Chelsea wore their royal-blue home kit. In the 3-0 defeat away at Brentford, they debuted their black away kit which includes neon yellow text and logos.
