Nigerian Duo Join Zimbabwe National Premier League Cricket Clubs
Two Nigerian talents Prosper Useni and Elijah Jimmy have been drafted into the Zimbabwe National Premier League, where they will join the country’s top cricket teams.
Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) revealed this in a statement on their X handle on Saturday.
While Useni has joined Mbizo, Jimmy has signed up with Queens
The pair will join their respective clubs in Harare as the NPL T20 Blast gets underway from 8 October 2026.
Useni, 20, is one of the youngest-ever debutants for Nigeria, who came through the local academy system and U-14 ranks.
Not just a big guy — he’s 6ft+, generates bounce with medium pace, but his value is as a dual threat. In Nigerian conditions he’s used as a death bowler who can swing and also as a finisher who strikes at 140+.
One of Nigeria’s most capped T20I players and a key part of their 2026 T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier push.
Jimmy is an emerging Nigerian top-order batter — currently with Nigeria A team and seen as one of the next-gen finishers for the senior Yellow Greens.
He’s part of the new NSL generation — captained by Sylvester Okpe in Northern Lions alongside Ridwan Abdulkareem, Daniel Balogun, etc. The NSL is Nigeria Cricket Federation’s new 4-team franchise league to feed the main national team.
Not yet capped for the senior Nigeria T20I side in ICC events but his recent Quadrangular form has put him on the selector’s radar for the main squad for 2026 Africa Qualifiers.
