MELAKA, Nov 8 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) is putting off any decision on whether to discipline Bersatu until the Melaka state election is out of the way.

PN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the coalition had received complaints from its component parties about Bersatu’s conduct, Free Malaysia Today reported.

“We will discuss them at our supreme council meeting.

“We will act based on the facts presented, not on sentiments,” he told reporters after visiting PN’s operations room in Kesidang today.

He did not elaborate on the complaints, saying only that they concerned events before and after the Negeri Sembilan state election in August.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had earlier said the coalition would act against Bersatu for allegedly breaching its constitution, including by contesting against PN in the Negeri Sembilan polls.

He said charges would be drawn up and Bersatu given enough time to defend itself.

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has dismissed the plan as “strange and absurd”, insisting his party broke no rules.

Muhyiddin also noted that Bersatu had reported alleged violations by PAS within PN to the Registrar of Societies (RoS), which had since acted.

The RoS suspended PN in late September and deregistered it on October 20 after Bersatu’s complaint against the coalition’s leadership, before the High Court stayed the deregistration two days later.

PAS cut ties with Bersatu in June, and Muhyiddin later said his party had been sidelined by PN as the PAS-led coalition pursued an alliance with Umno.

The RoS cancelled PN’s registration on October 20 under the Societies Act 1966, but the High Court stayed the decision on October 22 pending a judicial review, allowing PN to contest Melaka.

The RoS and the home minister appealed the next day, with the Court of Appeal due to hear the matter on February 22, 2027.
