Stephen Curry Posed For A Fan Photo Next To Klay Thompson, And Klay Was Not Looking

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are on opposite sides now, but that did not stop Curry from having some fun. During the Warriors' 120-100 win over the Heat on Thursday night, he stood beside Thompson and posed for a fan photo while Klay looked the other way. The clip went viral, with one fan comparing it to a friend from middle school pretending not to see you. A night earlier, Thompson had joked about beating up on old friends, but Curry got the last laugh.
Curry's photo gag and a Warriors win that got away from Miami
It was easy to miss in the middle of a game. A fan raised a phone, Curry could not resist striking a pose, and Thompson stared off in another direction. “Klay not even looking is like when a friend from middle school acts like they don't see you,” one fan wrote, while others said it would end up in a documentary someday.
The game itself slipped away from Miami in the third quarter, when the Warriors outscored the Heat 38-23 and went on to win their sixth straight. Curry had a poor first half, then scored 22 of his 29 points after the break. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg added 17 points and eight rebounds. Draymond Green scored only two points but handed out 11 assists, and he was the main reason Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 20.
The night went worse for the Heat, who fell to 3-6 on the second night of a back-to-back after an overtime game. Thompson shot 3 of 10 for 11 points, and Andrew Wiggins, another former Warrior, made 1 of 6 for two.
Thompson's reunion with his old team
Before tip-off, during warmups, Curry and Thompson met at midcourt for a quick chat as fans found their seats, then went back to their own sides. It is a familiar sight to Warriors fans. The pair won four titles together over 13 seasons before Thompson left for Dallas in 2024. This past August, he reached a buyout with the Mavericks and signed a two-year deal with the Heat.
He arrived in great form. The night before, Thompson scored 30 points with eight threes in a 117-116 win over the Clippers, including the go-ahead shot with one second left in overtime. It was the first game-winner of his career, after more than 900 games, and his first 30-point game since April 2024. Afterwards, he already had the Warriors on his mind. “It's fun to beat up on old friends,” he said.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said it still feels strange to see Thompson in another uniform. “Those first couple times are really bizarre, and then you get used to it,” he said.
