WTA Rankings after US 2026: Rybakina officially replaces Sabalenka as new World No. 1

Rybakina ended Sabalenka’s 99-week reign as the top-ranked female player and became the 30th different World No. 1 since the introduction of the computerised WTA Rankings in 1975.

Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina officially replaced Aryna Sabalenka as the new World No. 1 when the latest WTA Rankings were released on Monday.

Rybakina had to reach the US Open semifinals to move from second to first. Not only did the 27-year-old do that, but she went all the way and defeated two-time defending champion Sabalenka in the final to clinch her third Major and her first in New York.

Elina Svitolina went past Czechia’s Karolina Muchova and Poland’s Iga Swiatek into seventh spot despite the Ukrainian’s third-round exit. Muchova and Swiatek both dropped one place.

Marta Kostyuk, another Ukrainian, made her Top 10 debut after her run to the round of 16. American Amanda Anisimova, last year’s runner-up, slipped from 10th to 11th after being eliminated in the third round.

China’s Qinwen Zheng, former World No. 4 and reigning Olympic champion, made the biggest jump of the week. Back after injuries seemed to have derailed her career, Zheng had an inspiring run from the qualifiers to the quarterfinals before the defeat to eventual champion Rybakina. As a result, she moved up 69 spots to be ranked 52nd.

Elsewhere, in the Top 100, Romania’s Sorana Cirstea (15th), Czechia’s Sara Bejlek (28th), Frenchwoman Diane Parry (30th), Ukraine’s Oleksanra Oliynykova (41st), Daria Snigur (42nd) and Yuliia Starodubtseva (43rd), Australia’s Kimberly Birrell (56th) and Taylah Preston (92nd), Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee (61st) and Mananchaya Sawangkaew (88th) also rose to new career-high rankings.
