Exclusive: Emmerdale's Michael Parr shares verdict on Ross and Serena's future

Emmerdale star Michael Parr has addressed Ross Barton's recent short-lived romantic connections.
Ross seemed to be getting along well with Serena Sugden this year as they briefly started dating following her arrival in the village. However, there was more to Serena's interest than met the eye, as she was mainly using him to gain access to Home Farm and do Thea Ramsden's bidding.

The bad boy has also enjoyed a passionate fling with Laurel Thomas this year, but she wasn't interested in anything more serious.
In an exclusive chat with Inside Soap, Michael cast doubt on whether Ross and Serena's storyline will be revisited, as they haven't shared any significant screen time for a while.
Asked whether there's still potential for the pairing, he replied: "I thought there was going to be, but now they've not really crossed paths much, and I feel like it may have lost a bit of that initial momentum and spark.
"Things move fast and characters get pulled in different directions, so who knows what the future holds but for now, it seems to be on the back burner."

Asked whether he was surprised by the positive reaction to Ross and Laurel, he responded: "Not really, to be honest! The fans love Laurel, and the scenes we shot together were just lots of fun to work on, so it wasn't a huge shock to me that people responded so well.
"When you have good chemistry and the writing is spot on, the audience picks up on that straight away!"
Last month, Emmerdale's producer Sophie Roper told us that the show is interested in exploring a more serious relationship for Ross one day.
"Ross is such a brilliant character and he brings such wit and joy to every story that he's involved in," Roper said.
"He's certainly had several dalliances with lots of women within the village, but beneath that slightly rough exterior that he presents, there is absolutely a man who is looking for love and deeper connection."

She continued: "I think some of my favourite moments for Ross were when he was involved in those brilliant, epic love stories in years gone by, so I would love that for his character.
"There's nothing coming up in the immediate future, but I think it's certainly something we will want to explore with Ross. We'd want to explore those different facets to his character because he's multi-layered."
