No more pixie cut! Olivia Colman debuts dramatic new look with long curls

After years of having a pixie cut, Olivia Colman has now debuted a new hairstyle, with the popular actor unveiling a dramatic change as she attended a premiere for one of her upcoming projects.

The actor, known for her roles in Broadchurch and The Crown, is currently attending the Zurich Film Festival for a screening of Wicker, the highly-anticipated period romance in which she stars alongside Alexander Skarsgård.

As Colman took to the red carpet earlier this week, she could be seen sporting a longer hairstyle compared to previous years, with her hair also being curly as she wore a white dress at the event.

Wicker, which is helmed by the writer-director duo of Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, sees Colman portray a fisherwoman who is ostracised in the local village. Facing mockery on a daily basis, she soon hatches a plan to improve her life.

She sarcastically asks for a husband, and her wish is granted as the local weaver makes her a partner out of wicker. The figure, played by Skarsgård, then proves to be a good match for the fisherwoman.

Though the film isn't due to be released in the UK until the end of October, it has garnered acclaim throughout its festival run, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting an impressive approval rating of 91% from 23 reviews.

In Digital Spy's four-star review of the "must-see" film, we opined that it was "one of the weirdest" projects in the actor's career, adding: "Colman is pitch-perfect for the part, a character equally biting and self-deprecating."

Wicker isn't the only film project that Colman has coming, with Elsinore set to be released in January. Based on the life of the late Ian Charleson, the drama also stars Andrew Scott and Billie Piper, and recently unveiled its full-length trailer.

Colman also has some work on the small screen, with the actor being announced alongside Susan Sarandon in the latest casting update for Channel 4's upcoming suspense series, Army of Shadows.

Wicker is released in UK cinemas on 30 October.
