Indonesia to cut e-commerce fees 50 percent for eligible local MSMEs

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is preparing a 50 percent e-commerce fee discount for local micro and small businesses with maximum annual turnover of Rp15 billion (US$814 thousand).

The ministry's Deputy for Small Business, Temmy Satya Permana, said the policy is targeted to take effect by the end of October 2026.

"We have agreed on the discount, and the platform is ready. It will be operational by the end of October," he said on Wednesday.

He said the Minister of MSMEs has signed a ministerial decree serving as the program's legal basis, while the ministry's system is being integrated with SAPA UMKM.

MSMEs wishing to receive the incentive will register through SAPA UMKM, where the ministry will conduct an initial data curation process before forwarding the data to e-commerce platforms for further verification.

Businesses that meet the requirements stipulated in the Ministerial Decree on MSMEs will receive an incentive in the form of a 50 percent discount on e-commerce fees.

Temmy said around 42,000 local product sellers have been identified, but their data is still being processed for registration and verification under the program. He expressed hope that the incentive would increase the number of local product sellers on e-commerce platforms and help MSMEs expand their markets.

He said the official launch of the fee discount program would be conducted with the Minister of MSMEs once the program's mechanism is ready.

Previously, the Ministry of MSMEs had collaborated with several e-commerce platforms to encourage public interest in local products.

The ministry plans to expand its collaboration with other platforms, such as TikTok Shop and Tokopedia, and implement similar programs in other ministries and institutions.

"We will try to collaborate with others, TikTok Shop, Tokopedia, and perhaps other ministries. We want to test the market first," Temmy said.
