The creator of the cult classic “WNUF Halloween Special” is back with another experimental seasonal project.

Writer-director Chris LaMartina has announced “Spirit Tasting,” a spooky New Year’s Eve-themed film from Terror Vision Original Productions.

Per the official synopsis, “A post-punk riff on ‘The Monkey’s Paw,’ Chris LaMartina’s ‘Spirit Tasting’ follows three former punks (Sean Doherty, Melissa LaMartina and Trevor Wilhelms) as they toast their late bandmate at a distillery on New Year’s Eve. When a strange sommelier (Matt Lake) invites them to a top-shelf tasting, they discover there’s only one catch: Every bottle requires a ‘wish.’ But as each of their desires twist into doom, these old friends discover that every pour at the Red Bat Distillery comes at a deadly price.”

The film also stars Matt Baughman, Cate Paris and Tatiana Nya Ford, along with cameos from genre fixtures like Grady Hendrix, Clay McLeod Chapman, Peaches Christ and Henry Zebrowski. Chris LaMartina directed and edited the film, and co-wrote it with Michael Varrati. It is produced by Melissa LaMartina, Chris LaMartina, Varrati and Ted Geoghegan. It’s executive produced by Ryan Graveface.

In the spirit of B-movie icons like Roger Corman, the film was shot in four days for $40,000 in order to celebrate Chris LaMartina’s 40th birthday.

The film will also be screening in a holiday roadshow across the country with to-be-announced dates from November to early January. Chris LaMartina and select cast members will appear at each stop. A Blu-ray release will follow the roadshow.
