Strictly Come Dancing confirms Movie Week dances and songs – with a twist

Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed this year's Movie Week dances and songs… well, at least some of them. Yep, in a twist, the whole list of performances hasn't been unveiled at once, with only seven so far.

Those announced are Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, who will take on a Cha Cha Cha to 'Pretty Woman' from the film of the same name, while Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden will do the same dance to 'I'm Always Here' from Baywatch.

Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin will dance a Foxtrot to 'Beauty and the Beast', while Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington will do the American Smooth to A Star is Born's 'I'll Never Love Again'.

Meanwhile, Graeme Hall and Graeme Hall will Waltz to 'The Godfather Theme', Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu take on the Paso Doble with 'No Good Deed' from Wicked: For Good, and Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr will Salsa to 'You Should Be Dancing' from Saturday Night Fever.

Last weekend saw the first live show of the season, with John Nellis and Katya Jones topping the leaderboard followed by Delta and Kai.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood has since given his reactions to the leaderboard, saying of Delta on It Takes Two: "I loved it. She really threw herself into that dance, and she is spectacular. You can tell she's going to go a long way in the competition."

Addressing Movie Week, which is earlier than usual this year, he added: "It's always a bit of a surprise to me when I walk in because generally I don't recognise anyone because they're so heavily made up and in character!

"But what it does do, Movie Week or the themed weeks, gives them a little bit of a mask to hide behind, so they're not dancing as themselves, they're dancing in character which really does relieve your nerves because you're portraying a completely different person that isn't you."

The first live episode saw a drop in viewers compared to the recent launch show, a spokesperson saying in response: "Strictly was the most watched programme of the night, with a peak of 5 million viewers. As ever, overnight ratings do not give the full picture of all those who watch in an on-demand world."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One and iPlayer, while It Takes Two airs on BBC Two and iPlayer on weekday evenings.
