Asian Games 2026: Priya Ghanghas, Kapil Pokhariya lose in boxing semifinals, settle for bronze medals

India’s Priya Ghanghas lost to Yang Chengyu of China in the Asian Games 2026 women’s 60kg boxing semifinals at the Nishio Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Priya suffered a 4-1 defeat on points and settled for a bronze medal in her maiden Asian Games.
Both boxers traded punches almost evenly early on, with three of the judges awarding Round 1 to Yang. Priya tried to turn up the heat with some aggressive boxing, but ended up conceding the second round 4-1.
In the third and final round, Priya managed to land a few solid punches, but lost out to her Chinese opponent 3-2.
The 20-year-old Priya had entered the last-four by beating Tajikistan’s Mijgona Samadova 5-0 in a unanimous decision.
Earlier in the year, Priya had won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Asian Boxing Elite Championships in Ulaanbaatar. She also won silver at the U22 Boxing Championships in Bangkok last year.
