Trump: Houthis 'behaving very badly,' striking Saudi Arabia to drive up oil prices
Trump also said he spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but did not elaborate as to whether the US will offer support regarding Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi terrorists.
US President Donald Trump said that the United States will "make a decision on Iran very soon," while speaking to reporters outside the White House on Tuesday.
"Iran is a failed country," said Trump as he prepared to board Marine One for the first leg of a trip to Wasilla, Alaska, for a campaign rally ahead of the US midterm elections. "They have no economy, they have 300% inflation, they have no money, they're not paying their troops, they're not paying anybody."
Trump added that the US controls the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that "a lot of oil is coming out" of the international waterway.
Regarding Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi terrorists, the US president said the terror group was "behaving very badly," but refused to say if the US will strike the terror group.
He said he believed Turkey would join the fight against the Houthis if he asked, adding that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom he described as "a great friend," would "do as I ask."
Trump also said he spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but did not elaborate as to whether the US will offer support in Saudi Arabia's conflict with the Houthis.
"You really think I can tell you that?" Trump asked a reporter who asked about the issue. "I'd love to tell you, but I'm not gonna tell you that."
