This year, Matchbox Twenty are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their blockbuster debut, Yourself or Someone Like You. To mark the occasion, Rob Thomas and company stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play “3AM,” one of the album’s biggest hits.

With a gigantic “30” displayed on an otherwise blank screen behind them, the band of primarily 50-somethings delivered a tight performance, with Thomas’ vocals sounding not too different from their mid-’90s heyday. Watch a replay below.

Released in October 1996, Yourself or Someone Like You remains one of the best-selling rock albums of all time. It has been certified 12× Platinum in the US, has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide, and produced other major hits including “Push” and “Real World.”

Earlier this week, Matchbox Twenty announced a 2027 spring and summer 30th anniversary North American tour, with rotating support from acts including The All-American Rejects, The Wallflowers, and O.A.R. Tickets will be available through an artist pre-sale beginning Tuesday, October 20th at 5:00 p.m. local time, with a free Live Nation All Access pre-sale following on Thursday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. local time. The general on-sale begins Friday, October 23rd at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
