‘If carried out peacefully…they are absolutely right and should take place’: Shekhar Suman reacts to CJP protest

Shekhar Suman, who is currently engaging the audience with his show ‘Shekhar Tonite,’ recently reacted to the CJP protest. He put forward his opinion that if a protest takes place peacefully, then there’s no harm in it.

He highlighted that protests have been a part of society and the political system forever, and there’s nothing wrong with carrying them out, considering they are done the right way.

What did Shekhar Suman say on CJP’s current protest?

“Protest toh dekhiye, politics ka hissa hai aur society ka bhi ek hissa hai. Protest toh hum tab se karte hain, jab hum bade hote hain. Jab humein kuch nahi milta, toh hum ghar mein protest shuru kar dete hain ki humein yeh chahiye, woh chahiye.

(Protests are a part of politics, and they are also a part of society. We have been protesting ever since we were growing up. When we don't get something, we start protesting at home, saying that we want this or that),” said Shekhar Suman during his recent appearance on Lallantop. He further explained his point by saying that there is nothing wrong with carrying out a non-violent protest. They are nothing but a way of putting your point with extra firmness.

“Agar peaceful tareeke se protest kiya jaaye aur woh violent na ho, toh mere khayal se yeh bahut sahi hai aur hona bhi chahiye. Kyunki jab koi cheez aapko us tarah nahi milti, toh uske liye aapko thodi aur mehnat karni padti hai, awaaz uthani padti hai.

(If protests are carried out peacefully and do not turn violent, I think they are absolutely right and should take place. When you don't get something the way you want it, you have to put in a little more effort and raise your voice for it),” he mentioned. Then, citing Mahatma Gandhi, he said the late freedom fighter taught us, “agar aapki maangein poori nahi ho rahi hain, toh protest karna shuru kijiye. Jab janta ki ek saamuhik awaaz uthti hai, toh sarkar bhi us par thodi tawajjo deti hai, thoda dhyaan deti hai. Aur yeh hota rehna chahiye. (If your demands are not being met, you should start protesting. When the people raise a collective voice, the government also pays attention to it.

And this should continue to happen.)”

Shekhar Suman says he sees protest as a very positive thing in society

Elaborating his point further, he said protests shouldn’t be stopped. “Har insaan ko apni jagah, apne mukaam par, jahan bhi woh hai, jis bhi cheez ke liye zaroorat ho, uske liye protest karna chahiye. I see it as a very positive thing in society. (Every person should be able to protest for what they believe in, wherever they are and whatever their position in society may be. I see it as a very positive thing in society,” he expressed. The actor concluded by saying that protests are justified if a section of the opposition feels that something has gone wrong and has questions about credibility.
