Six kidnapped Katsina varsity students, driver rescued

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and their commercial driver after they were abducted along the Daye–Malumfashi Road in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The victims were abducted after armed assailants attacked a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina on Monday.

The Deputy Director of Information, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, 8 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olamiyi Osoba, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.

Osoba said the troops responded to a distress call received on the evening of September 21, 2026, reporting the attack on the vehicle.

He said the swift intervention of the troops forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee the scene.

According to him, all seven victims were rescued unhurt and taken through preliminary security profiling and necessary medical evaluations.
“Following the preliminary security profiling and necessary medical evaluations, the rescued individuals were safely handed over to designated officials to facilitate their safe reunion with their families and school authorities,” Osoba said.

The rescue is the latest in a series of operations by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA aimed at disrupting kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West.
