Kaizer Chiefs flop scores 13 goals in 16 games abroad

Translate

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Efmamjjasond González is enjoying life in China, scoring goals for fun.

The Colombian striker joined Amakhosi on loan from Real Santa Cruz during the 2023/24 season with high expectation but failed to score or register a single assist in what turned out to be a dreadful campaign for the Soweto giants, who also missed out on a place in the top eight.

González was considered a flop by many Chiefs supporters and was eventually let go after just one season.

After moving between various clubs, the 27-year-old has finally found his scoring boots at Chinese League One outfit Nantong Zhiyun.

Kaizer Chiefs flop flourishing

On Saturday, González continued his red-hot scoring form by guiding Nantong Zhiyun to yet another victory. The striker netted a hat-trick, taking him to second place in the Chinese League One Golden Boot race.

He has scored 13 goals in 16 appearances this season and also added an assist.

González is not the only former Kaizer Chiefs striker who struggled at Naturena but is now thriving abroad.

Ranga Chivaviro, who was often booed by Amakhosi supporters, is also enjoying life in Saudi Arabia. The experienced striker scored 13 goals in 28 appearances for Al Fahaheel last season.

Like González, Chivaviro appears to have put his disappointment at Kaizer Chiefs behind him and is finding the back of the net regularly in a different league.
