Xbox currently has a lot to think about. Between the issues fans have with the price of Xbox Game Pass and the strength of the brand, current Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has a ton of decisions to make. The publisher has already made some, unfortunately resulting in selling off multiple studios, but Xbox seems keen on continuing in the gaming industry.

Just recently, the juggernaut said it wasn't selling off the business and that there's more to come. Now, thanks to confirmation from Sharma, we have an idea of what the next generation of consoles might look like (via Windows Central).

Xbox Consoles, with a starry background.

Speaking at an internal town hall, Sharma explained that the company's aim is to be the place the "world plays," and that with a "billion daily active people," they have a "right to win" as the company refocuses on fans. That's come to a head this year through the company's multiple FanFest events in the past few months, but it will also show up in the company's output going forward.

We know that Halo is now in an interesting spot under Activision, but there's more to come, says Sharma: "We're making the right decisions to reinvest in the business, after an all time low, we've started to return to growth, more than 2 to 3 times what we were, and we expect that continue."

The biggest bombshell, however, is how frank Sharma was about the next console generation: "We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all. We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the go. There are some things that we are the best in the world to manufacture, and there are other things that we will partner on. So, we will be sharing more about that as our plans develop. The operating system is starting to look really good. We're very excited about this."

Sharma has mentioned in the past that a family of devices could be on the way following the Xbox Series X/S era, but it seems that even "post-reorganization," the same strategy is still in the cards. Note that some of this "family" will be through "partners," including potential handhelds like the ROG Xbox Ally.

The Project Helix logo floats over a black background.

Other plans include the growth of Xbox PC and Battle.net, including the strange collaboration with CD Projekt Red, which brought The Witcher 3: Remastered to the Battle.net launcher.

Microsoft is trying hard to ensure the Xbox brand sticks around for a while, but it remains to be seen how much of this will last long term. The company has a few heavy-hitters in the pipeline, but we could be years away from seeing projects from their bigger franchises, including the new Activision-overseen Halo.
