“Do Not Entertain Conmen”- President William Ruto Challenges Opposition to Show 2027 Development Blueprint

Translate

President William Ruto has thrown down the gauntlet to Opposition leaders, demanding they lay out a concrete development vision for the nation rather than relying on political rhetoric as the country builds up to the 2027 General Election.

Speaking on Sunday, November 8, 2026, during an interdenominational church service at Nyamaiya Stadium in Nyamira County, the President accused his political rivals of lacking actionable solutions for key socio-economic challenges.

“They must tell us where we want to go as a nation. The other guys do not have a plan; they have no ideas about roads,” President Ruto stated. “Kenyans want roads for the cost of living to go down, education to be streamlined, they want the prices of fertiliser to come down and brokers to be eliminated in agriculture.”

Urging voters to reject empty promises, the President questioned whether his competitors understood regional needs in places like the Gusii region: “Do not entertain conmen. They must tell you what they will do for you, how agriculture will be improved, jobs created and infrastructure upgraded.”

Focus on National Unity and Regional Equity

Addressing political divisions, President Ruto emphasized that his administration remains committed to balanced, non-discriminatory regional development.

“We do not want politics that brings division and hatred. There is no part of this country that is in Kenya by accident. We want every part of the country to be developed,” he added.

The event brought together key political and government figures from the region:

  • Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango MP): Backed the President’s stance, arguing that political contests should center on national policy rather than ethnic alignment. “We want to compete on ideas, not tribes, and then the people will decide,” Osoro noted.

  • Simba Arati (Kisii Governor): Called for strictly equitable resource allocation, reminding the executive that all citizens contribute to the national treasury. “There are some places where people have not seen tarmac. We must have equity in Kenya; we all pay taxes,” Arati emphasized.

  • Zeheer Jhanda (Nyaribari Chache MP): Commended the government’s grassroots projects across Kisii and Nyamira, urging residents to back ongoing national initiatives.

The service was also attended by Education CS Julius Ogamba, Transport CS Davis Chirchir, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, and several local lawmakers, including North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, Bonchari MP Charles Onchoke, and Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku.
