MASJID TANAH: The Melaka government has disbursed RM7.53 million in welfare assistance to benefit 5,775 recipients across the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said that as of July, RM4.45 million was distributed to 2,439 recipients under the Bantuan Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) Am Kebajikan programme.

He added that over RM3.08 million was allocated under the MeSRa disposable diapers and MeSRa milk for bedridden patients programmes, benefiting 3,345 recipients across Melaka's three districts.

"Efforts to expand the welfare network reflect the state government's commitment to ensuring that those in need are not left behind in the state's development," he said.

"All this sends a clear message that the welfare of the people will remain an important part of Melaka's development agenda, as we want the state's progress to move forward with compassion, inclusiveness, and a spirit of togetherness down to the grassroots."

Rauf, who is also Tanjung Bidara assemblyman, said this when officiating the state-level Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, and Children's Day celebration in conjunction with the Tanjung Bidara constituency Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programmeat Villa D'Aqua, Kampung Pulau, here.

Present were State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh, Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Noordin, and Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.

Rauf said these initiatives stem from the MeSRa concept, which forms the foundation of the state administration as a responsibility to be translated into action rather than just a slogan.

"The state government will continue to ensure welfare aspects are given attention alongside efforts to develop the economy and improve the people's well-being," he said.

During the event, Rauf visited Muhammad Aish Irfan Mohammad Hakeem, a child with disabilities, in Taman Bidara Palma.

He presented the child's family with a Tabung Bantuan Segera contribution, a PwD card, and a Ziarah Kasih kit as a gesture of care and support.

Rauf also launched the new Seri Kemunting Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) office in the same residential area, presenting the Insentif Belanja Rakyat and PDK Trainee Rehabilitation Aid Incentives.
