Twenty-seven people have been killed in an overnight drone strike on the Kyiv region, its governor has confirmed.

Tymur Tkachenko said a further 42 people, including four children, were injured in the Russian attack on the Bucha district. A further 381 people have been evacuated.

Search and rescue operations were ongoing early on Saturday as emergency services inspected buildings for damage.

Tkachenko later added that a 14-year-old was killed in a separate attack in the Boryspil district. "This is yet another victim of Russian terror," he said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, saying that more than 300 emergency respondents had been deployed to the strike area.

Zelensky also reported further overnight strikes in the regions of Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia.

"Ukraine cannot be alone in finding solutions to protect against such strikes, and I thank everyone who helps with additional support packages and sanctions against Russia," he wrote on Telegram.

The Ukrainian army said it had shot down 233 Russia unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight into Saturday.

Russia and Ukraine have been intensifying their attacks in recent months, with Kyiv focusing its operations on Russian economic targets.

In the past 24 hours, Moscow has reported strikes on the Belgorod and Rostov regions. Rostov Governor Yuri Slusar said seven people were injured in the attack.
