Naga City Hospital gets P25.1M in medical equipment from PCSO

NAGA CITY, Camarines Sur — Patients at Naga City General Hospital will get faster and more accessible diagnostic services after the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over P25.1 million worth of medical equipment to the facility on Thursday.

The donation included a digital stationary X-ray machine, an ultrasound machine, and a 2D echocardiogram machine.

PCSO chief of staff Jeremy Regino said the equipment would give patients from Naga City and nearby communities better access to diagnostic services without having to travel to other hospitals and diagnostic centers.

Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo said the equipment would help the hospital attend to more patients and reduce waiting time for diagnostic procedures.

“Your assistance is a big help because we can respond more quickly and attend to more patients who need these kinds of equipment,” Robredo said.

She said patients would also save on transportation and other expenses by getting diagnostic procedures at the city hospital instead of going to facilities outside Naga.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles said the agency would also work to provide additional equipment needed to make the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) operational.

“Access to reliable diagnostic services can make a critical difference in a patient’s treatment and recovery,” Robles said.

The digital X-ray machine will be used to diagnose injuries and illnesses, while the ultrasound machine will allow doctors to examine internal organs and tissues.

The 2D echocardiogram machine will be used to assess the heart’s structure and function and help detect or monitor cardiovascular conditions./coa
