PM Modi to chair meet to chart govt's next set of priorities

NEW DELHI: Union council of ministers will meet at a Chintan Shivir Wednesday and Thursday to chart govt's "next set of ideas, reforms and priorities" focused on Viksit Bharat@2047 and review progress of key programmes.

PM Narendra Modi will chair the two-day brainstorming session.Ahead of the session at Seva Teerth (PMO), Modi directed ministries to prepare plans to engage senior citizens in "mentorship programmes and initiatives of govt", keeping in view India's changing demographic profile. TOI has learnt that social justice ministry has been tasked with this initiative conceptualised by the PMO.

Departments have been advised to transformViksit Bharat from a govt initiative into a mass movement as was done during "freedom struggle by Gandhi ji" and to build a youth movement around it through programmes in universities and colleges.Chintan Shivir will see presentations by ministers, including Hardeep Singh Puri and Piyush Goyal, on four major themes including effective communication and implementation of govt programmes. Each group comprising 16-17 ministers held preparatory meetings Monday and Tuesday. PM recently also held discussions with ministers of states.An assessment of cabinet ministers on their social media presence was shared with them. So far, there have been eight presentations and discussions before the council of ministers "It brings together the work done by groups of secretaries, ministries and departments, cabinet secretariat and Niti Aayog including reforms, ease of living, reduction of compliances and other governance priorities," said an official.
