Raptor rescued from sea in Romblon
CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines — A bird of prey has been rescued after it was found floating in the waters off Santa Fe town in Romblon province and was immediately turned over to environmental officials for assessment and care.
The raptor, locally known as a “lawin or banog,” was spotted over the weekend by Ricky Malacad, a resident of Inobahan in Poblacion at San Jose town, while he was fishing near Sitio Puro in Santa Fe.

In a report on Monday (September 28), the San Jose Municipal Information Office said Malacad rescued the bird and arranged for its delivery to the municipal environment and natural resources office on Saturday (Sept. 26).

The bird is set to be turned over to the provincial environment and natural resources office for further examination and for appropriate intervention.
