Ashmit Patel says relationship with sister Ameesha Patel has ups and downs: 'But blood is thicker than water, I will always protect her till my last breath'

Ashmit Patel has once again spoken about his relationship with his sister, actor Ameesha Patel, acknowledging that their bond has gone through its share of ups and downs. While the siblings have often been the subject of speculation over their equation, Ashmit made it clear that any differences between them do not alter the affection and responsibility he feels towards his elder sister.Ashmit admitted that, like most relationships, his equation with Ameesha has experienced difficult periods. However, he stressed that their family connection remains constant regardless of what people may think or say about them.Reflecting on their relationship, the actor said disagreements and changing circumstances are a natural part of any bond. He also emphasised that his commitment to Ameesha as her brother will never change.“Every relationship has its ups and downs. Things are good; we are family. They say blood is thicker than water, and there is nothing you can do about that because our blood is the same. And the bond of Raksha Bandhan has always been there. I will always protect her till my last breath, and she knows that. That’s important, no matter what the world says," he said in an interview with Hindi Rush.Ashmit’s comments come amid years of public interest in the siblings’ relationship.

Although he has previously acknowledged that they are not always particularly close, he has generally refrained from defining their equation in absolute terms. Instead, he has maintained that any personal differences do not diminish the bond they share as brother and sister. He had expressed a similar sentiment when Ameesha’s career received a major boost following the success of ‘Gadar 2’. During a 2024 conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Ashmit was asked if he had congratulated his sister after the film emerged as a major box-office success.“Of course I did," Ashmit replied. He also shared that he and their parents were thrilled by the overwhelming response to the film. At the same time, he explained that the family’s private interactions may not always be visible to the public, despite the perception created by their relatively low-key relationship.
