FIFA U-15 W/Cup & Festival: Future Eagles Record Third Straight Draw After 3-3 Thriller With Gambia

Translate

Nigeria’s Future Eagles are still searching for their first win at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival after being held to a third successive draw, this time a 3-3 thriller against The Gambia in Baku, Azerbaijan on Sunday evening.

The Future Eagles came into the evening game after a 3-3 draw with South Sudan on Saturday and a 2-2 deadlock with Jordan on Sunday morning, leaving them with two points.

Against their West African rivals at the Hovsan Competition Complex, the Future Eagles again showed attacking firepower but could not hold on defensively in the eight-a-side format (two 20-minute halves).

The Future Eagles now have three points from three matches, having scored eight goals and conceded eight but but still in contention for tier placement.

The team will have to turn draws into wins on Monday to finish strong when they face their final two Group AD fixtures.

They will take on Cyprus today (Monday) at 8:30am before facing Pakistan at 3:15pm.

Group results determine which tier each team progresses to in the second phase on October 28 and 29, with tier finals on October 30.
