Najib's 1MDB sentence stay application set for Oct 14 [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has fixed Oct 14 to hear Datuk Seri Najib Razak's application to stay his 15-year jail sentence in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case pending his appeal.

Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin fixed the date during case management today.

Najib is appealing against his conviction and sentence on four charges of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.27 billion in 1MDB funds.

His 15-year prison sentence in the 1MDB case was ordered to begin after he completes his sentence in the SRC International case.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam appeared for the prosecution, while Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah represented Najib.
