KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — A total of 22 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 4pm today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, four areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy API readings, namely Serian (181), Sri Aman (166), Samarahan (153) and Kuching (152).
In Johor the air pollutant index for Pasir Gudang was 157, Larkin (156), Pengerang (153), Tangkak (150), Kluang (147) and Kota Tinggi (122).
Other places were Johan Setia (161), Shah Alam (151) and Banting (107) in Selangor; Nilai (155) and Seremban (153) in Negeri Sembilan; Alor Gajah (132) and Bukit Rambai (107) in Melaka; Balok Baru, Kuantan (113) and Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (109) in Pahang; Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (156); Putrajaya (152) and Seri Manjung, Perak (126).
Forty-five areas had a moderate API reading while only Kangar in Perlis had a good API reading.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous. — Bernama
