Haze eases nationwide, but 14 areas still record unhealthy air

KUALA LUMPUR: Air quality across the country has improved, with 14 locations recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am today, according to the Department of Environment (DOE).
The latest readings showed that 50 monitoring stations recorded moderate air quality, while four registered good air quality.
Pasir Gudang, Johor, recorded the highest API reading at 179, followed by Larkin at 178 and Kota Tinggi at 165.
Other locations in Johor recording unhealthy air quality were Tangkak (163), Segamat (161), Pengerang (160), Kluang (159) and Batu Pahat (145).
In Pahang, Balok Baru Kuantan recorded an API reading of 159, while Rompin registered 153.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur recorded 156, followed by Kuala Terengganu (157) and Kemaman (156) in Terengganu.
Paka in Terengganu recorded an API reading of 133, while Alor Gajah in Melaka registered 103.
Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and above 300 hazardous.
The DOE's air quality monitoring network comprises 68 stations nationwide.
