Yakuza Game Series Like A Dragon Infiltrates Roblox
RGG Studio (Ryu ga Gotoku Studio), the producers of the Like a Dragon (formerly Yakuza) game series, made the unlikeliest announcement on Friday: Like a Dragon is now in the popular game platform and game creation system Roblox.
Titled Yakuza Blocks: Like a Dragon, RGG Studio describes the licensed game, “Grab your crew, Kamurocho is calling. Yakuza Blocks: Like a Dragon is now live on Roblox. Explore, fight, and rise through the ranks together." The company adds, "Explore Kamurocho, fight your way up, and rise to the top with your crew."
Toshihiro Nagoshi created the Like a Dragon (previously known as Yakuza in the West) game series in 2005 for PlayStation 2. The first game stars Kazuma Kiryū, a low-ranking Yakuza member, in the fictional Kamurocho (based on Tokyo's Kabukicho). The series has had nine mainline titles and several spin-off titles.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio's remake of the Yakuza 3 game along with the new standalone Dark Ties title, launched as a single release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam worldwide last February.
RGG Studio's Stranger Than Heaven game (previously codenamed "Project Century") will launch on January 15 for Xbox X|S, PS5, and PC via Steam. The game will also be available via Game Pass.
Ryū ga Gotoku Powered By Nihon Tōitsu (Yakuza Powered by Nihon Tōitsu), the live-action crossover project between the Like a Dragon/Yakuza game series and the Nihon Tōitsu original video series, debuted in Japan on Amazon Prime Video on February 10 with all three episodes. The series is streaming with English subtitles on Sega's YouTube channel.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku ~Beyond the Game~), a live-action series based on the games, began streaming on Amazon Prime Video in October 2024.
