Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Game Expansion's Trailer Reveals Teostra, Previews Boost Drivers
CAPCOM unveiled during the CAPCOM Spotlight livestream on Wednesday an extended version of its trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion for its Monster Hunter Wilds game, and the end of the video teases the Elder Dragon Teostra. The Spotlight video also previews the Boost Bracer attachment, Boost Drivers, faster weapon swap, changing equipment outside the tent, and a more detailed display of hide toughness. The video also confirms crossplay for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version.
The major expansion adds Boost Drivers, attacks that activate Boost, which temporarily enhances certain actions. Boost introduces new combos, enhanced attacks, enhanced guarding, and more. The expansion introduces the new Elder Dragon Gundoraja.
The Monster Hunter Wilds game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4. The Switch 2 version will feature local play between systems. In addition, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will also come to Switch 2 along with all released title updates.
The game debuted globally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in February 2025. The game sold over 8 million copies worldwide in its first three days. According to the company, this is the fastest that one of its titles has reached this milestone. As of March 2025, the game had sold 10 million copies worldwide.
The first title update for the game launched in April 2025. The second title update launched in June 2025. The third title update featured a collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV Online and launched in October 2025. The game's fourth free title update — which included the Elder Dragon Gogmazios, Arch-Tempered Jin Dahaad, the "Festival of Accord: Lumenhymn" event, armor transcendence, and more — launched in December 2025. The update was the "final major content update" for the game that brought the addition of a new monster to the game's roster.
The Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance major expansion will launch in 2027.
