East Bengal will be eyeing a third straight Calcutta Football League title when it takes on Coal India in both teams’ final Championship Round game at the East Bengal Ground on Saturday.
The Red and Gold Brigade will be looking to secure a third piece of silverware of the calendar year after lifting the Indian Super League and Durand Cup.
However, East Bengal will need other results to go in its favour as it currently sits fourth with two points in the second round standings, two points behind Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mohammedan SC (who will face each other) and one point behind Bhawanipore SC, which will take on United SC.
How can East Bengal win Calcutta Football League?
If Mohun Bagan (+4 goal difference) and Mohammedan SC (+2) play out a draw in their match, East Bengal will have to ensure that it beats Coal India by atleast five goals to climb past its city rivals.
However, East Bengal will also need Bhawanipore SC to not win its game.
If any of Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan or Bhawanipore wins their games, East Bengal will not be able to defend its title.
