#NSTviral: Dad's hilarious antics steal the show at son's fire station birthday

KUALA LUMPUR: Was it a birthday treat for his son, or an excuse for a father to enjoy a day out himself?

A father has amused social media users after appearing to enjoy his son's birthday celebration at the Keramat Fire and Rescue Station here even more than the birthday boy.

From trying the firefighters' sliding pole to splashing around with the children, he seemed determined to make the most of the outing.

A video shared on Threads by @yasinamron has garnered more than 460,000 views and 25,000 likes.

"Dad wanted to go but used his child as an excuse," read the accompanying caption.

The clip shows the father beaming as he tries the pole firefighters use to descend quickly from the upper floor.

He also joins the children as they play in water sprayed by firefighters, seemingly the only adult among them and thoroughly enjoying himself.

His enthusiasm had social media users in stitches, with many joking that the father appeared more excited about the celebration than his son.

Some said they had imagined a schoolboy asking for a birthday trip to a fire station, only to find that the birthday boy was still a toddler.

Beyond the jokes, the celebration also caught the attention of other parents, who asked how they could arrange similar birthday visits or family activities at fire stations.
