Chelsea struck twice in the opening three minutes en route ‌to a 5-1 thrashing of Bournemouth, with Jordan Henderson and Joao Pedro bagging two goals apiece, andis fifth on 10 points.

Henderson was Chelsea’s unlikely hero, opening the scoring in the second minute when Cole Palmer, fresh from signing a new contract, drove forward from the halfway line before setting him up to score.

Chelsea struck again a minute later when Henderson found Morgan Rogers, whose curling effort deflected ‌in off defender Antonio Silva.

Chelsea extended its lead 40 seconds after half-time through Joao Pedro before Evanilson pulled one back for the visiting side five minutes later. Joao Pedro netted the Blues’ fourth before Henderson capped the win with a superb curling free kick.

“Today was a very complete performance; we were in control for most of the game. We had good stability,” Alonso said.

“Overall, happy with the game, many positives to take for the future, and we have to keep going.”

The former Real Madrid boss was surprised to see Chelsea strike twice in the first three minutes, adding: “We always try to start the game with good energy, but I have no explanation, no credit to me.

“It has never happened to me to score so many early goals. Let’s see if we can keep doing that. Maybe I prefer to score the first one in the last minute! It will happen one day.”
