Habagat to bring rain in Northern, Central Luzon areas Monday (Aug. 24)

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to affect parts of Northern and Central Luzon on Monday, according to the state weather bureau.
This is based on the 5 a.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
Pagasa specialist Aldczar Aurelio said that Typhoon Saudel and Tropical Depression Gaenary (formerly Neneng) are enhancing the habagat.

Both weather systems are outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

“Maulan na panahon pa rin ang inaasahan sa Batanes. Maulap na kalangitan at may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorms sa nalalabing bahagi ng Cagayan Valley, buong Cordillera [Administrative Region], Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite at Rizal,” Aurelio said.
(Rains are still expected over Batanes. The rest of Cagayan Valley, whole Cordillera [Administrative Region], Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite and Rizal will experience cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.)
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of sudden rains due to thunderstorms.

The effects of habagat will prevail over Luzon for the next four days.
Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rains due to thunderstorms.

No gale warning is raised in any seaboards of the country.
