Niño Muhlach’s wife defends actor after crash victim’s complaint over motorcycle

Niño Muhlach’s wife, Diane Abby Tupaz, defended the actor after he was called out over his alleged lack of assistance towards a motorcycle rider who incurred damages after the actor’s vehicle figured in a road crash in Antipolo City last month.

Nicolas Villanueva posted on Facebook on Sunday, Sept. 13, claiming that Muhlach has yet to replace his damaged motorcycle three weeks after the road accident.

“Sir NIÑO MUHLACH pangatlong linggo na po. Parang binabalewala na po ninyo yung nangyari sakin. Ang galing galing niyong mangako pag may camera. Wala pala kayung isang salita sa mga sinasabi niyo. Di pa ako nakakapag trabaho dahil sa nangyari sakin, pati motor ko di niyo parin pinapalitan,” Villanueva wrote in a now-deleted post.

Tupaz responded in a Facebook post on Sept. 14, saying posts circulating online made it appear that Muhlach did not help Villanueva at all.

“Yung post na kumakalat eh parang pinapalabas na wala man lang ginawang tulong si Niño Muhlach sa taong naperwisyo nya sa aksidente. HINDI YAN TOTOO!” she said.

The celebrity wife clarified that Muhlach has been providing assistance to Villanueva and his family, including medical-related support and their daily needs.

“Sa taong na-hospital na si Nicolas Villanueva, araw araw sinisiguro ni Niño na natututukan ng mga doctor si Nicolas and naibibigay sa kanya lahat ng gamot na kailangan nya,” she wrote.

Tupaz added that Muhlach also provided cash for food, groceries and transportation expenses, as well as money for Villanueva’s daughter’s school allowance.

Regarding the motorcycle, Tupaz said it would be replaced and that Muhlach was not avoiding responsibility.

“And yung sa ‘motor’ huwag ho kayong mag alala kasi siguradong mabibigyan yan ng kapalit, hindi naman tatakas si Niño ng dahil lang sa motor,” she said.

Tupaz also claimed that the delay involved communication between Villanueva and the insurance company.

“Gusto ko lang ipaalam na last week pa pala kayo kinokontak ng insurance pero hindi nyo daw kinakausap yung insurance,” she said in the comments section of Villanueva’s post. “Paano nga talaga maayos kung ganito naman pala nangyayari.”

The controversy stemmed from a road accident on Aug. 23 along Marcos Highway in Barangay Mambugan, Antipolo City, Rizal.

Muhlach was driving an SUV when it crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into several roadside establishments, including an eatery. Villanueva was among those affected. 

Initial police information cited possible mechanical trouble, but Muhlach later clarified that he had fallen asleep while driving because of an “extremely demanding and exhausting schedule.” He said his regular driver was off that Sunday, which led him to drive himself. 

Villanueva was brought to a hospital following the accident. Muhlach personally visited him on Aug. 25 and said the victim had sustained bruises and cuts on his legs but no fractures. The actor also apologized to Villanueva and his family and said he would continue supporting his recovery.

The Land Transportation Office issued a show-cause order against Muhlach and imposed a 90-day preventive suspension on his driver’s license. The vehicle involved was also placed under alarm status. /edv
