Laoag evacuates residents in flood-prone village
SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur— Residents of Sampaloc Village in Barangay 2, Laoag City, were preemptively evacuated as water levels rose amid prevailing bad weather, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said.
The evacuation was carried out by the CDRRMO, led by Dr. Melvin D. Manuel, in coordination with the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Fire Protection and barangay officials.

A bedridden patient was among those evacuated and was brought to the Laoag City General Hospital for medical assessment and monitoring due to the risks posed by prolonged exposure to floodwaters.

Authorities said the operation prioritized residents who may need additional assistance during emergencies, including bedridden patients, senior citizens, children, pregnant women and persons with disabilities.
The CDRRMO urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to monitor official advisories and be ready to evacuate when instructed.
