Elderly stroke victim dies in tricycle-truck collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY — A 65-year-old woman who had suffered a stroke and was being taken to a hospital died after the tricycle transporting her collided with a truck on Sunday, Aug. 30, along the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca town, Quezon.
The Quezon police, in a report on Monday, Aug. 31, said the tricycle was carrying four passengers, including the stroke victim, when the accident occurred in Barangay Villa Bota at 10:15 a.m.

Police said the tricycle driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into the opposite lane and crash into the oncoming truck.

The tricycle driver and all four passengers were rushed by rescuers to the Quezon Provincial Network Hospital. The stroke victim, however, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
