Raiza Dhillon falls short of another medal, finishes fourth in women's skeet final

India’s Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal missed out on individual medals after finishing fourth and eighth respectively in the women’s skeet final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, having earlier helped the country secure team bronze.Raiza came agonisingly close to adding another medal to India’s tally, finishing fourth with 23 hits in the eight-shooter final. Parinaaz, meanwhile, was eliminated in eighth place after managing eight hits.

Raiza finished eighth and Parinaaz ninth after the three days of qualification rounds, while Maheshwari Chauhan missed the cut with 109 hits.Earlier, the trio of Raiza, Parinaaz and Maheshwari combined for 331 hits to secure bronze in the women’s skeet team event. Parinaaz and Raiza contributed 111 each, while Maheshwari finished with 109.China claimed team gold with 347 hits, while Kazakhstan took silver with 336. In the individual event, China's Jiang Yiting won gold with 35 hits, setting both an Asian and Asian Games record. Thailand's Isarapa Imprasertsuk took silver with 31, while Kazakhstan's Assem Orynbay won bronze with 28.

The shooting medals continued to boost India's campaign in Aichi-Nagoya. Earlier on Wednesday, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh secured bronze in the men's skeet team event with 346 hits after India prevailed over Kazakhstan in the shoot-off.
