New Star Trek Release Officially Cancelled By Magic: The Gathering

Star Trek fans have gotten some bad news today. In an official statement from Wizards of the Coast, it looks like all Star Trek Beginner Boxes for Magic: The Gathering are canceled. Amid a number of Star Trek cards being confirmed, and some events planned around the Beginner Box, this is quite the surprising blow.

"Due to delays in production, logistics, and shipping, we will no longer be producing the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Beginner Box. This product has been canceled in all regions," the statement reads over on the official Wizards of the Coast website. "No other Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek products are affected by this."

"If you preordered a Beginner Box, contact your local game store or retailer for more information," the statement continues. "For Magic events that planned to include the Beginner Box (like MagicCon: Atlanta), we are currently updating our plans and will share details in the future."

Otherwise, no other specifics have been provided yet. This isn't the first time a new set has had problems related to shipping and production. Just last week, Wizards of the Coast revealed that Reality Fracture delays for Magic: The Gathering are happening for similar reasons in specific reasons. For example, in North America, only the Omega Collector Boosters are affected by the delay.

If you've already preordered the Beginner Box for Magic: The Gathering Star Trek, remember to contact your local gaming store for a refund. Sadly, it looks like there are no future plans to bring the Beginner Box back. What's still unclear is how these delays in "production, logistics, and shipping" continue to affect Magic: The Gathering so much recently.

Thankfully, only the Beginner Box is affected. Other Magic: The Gathering products for Star Trek are still happening. And hopefully, this isn't a trend that will continue as Wizards of the Coast works on future releases.
