Russell Wilson Names The One Player He Thinks Would Make The Kansas City Chiefs Unbeatable

Only two NFL teams are still unbeaten, and the Kansas City Chiefs are the only one left in the AFC. Russell Wilson, the Super Bowl champion who now co-hosts CBS Sports' "Set Hut," believes they should still shop before the trade deadline. His pick is New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson. DraftKings gives the Chiefs +750 odds to win the title, matching the Buffalo Bills and sitting behind only the San Francisco 49ers at +540. Wilson laid out the full pitch on the show earlier this week, and it starts with a star running back.

Kenneth Walker Is Changing The Kansas City Chiefs Offense

Kenneth Walker, last season's Super Bowl MVP, signed with Kansas City from the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. He has 665 rushing yards, an average of 113.0 per game. His old team has 643 as a group, or 107.2 per game.

Walker also leads the league with 52 forced missed tackles. Against stacked boxes, meaning eight or more defenders, he has 183 yards and six touchdowns.

Wilson and co-host Kyle Long spent much of the segment on why this year's Chiefs feel different. Wilson called Walker "dynamic" and said, "Every time he touches the ball, there's a chance he may score."

He then pointed to what Walker means for the quarterback.

"Walker is bringing something they've never had before, Mahomes never had a 1,000-yard rusher," Wilson said. "... Kenneth Walker is changing the game for Patrick Mahomes. Walker has brought toughness that I feel like they've always had, but there's a different type of toughness and just physical nature that he's bringing to the game."

Why A Garrett Wilson Trade Could Fit The Kansas City Chiefs

Walker is the reason Wilson says the Chiefs should be a Super Bowl favorite. The next step, in his view, is a receiver.

"If I'm the Chiefs, I'm gonna go get [New York Jets] Garrett Wilson," Russell Wilson said. " ... Because I believe that Garrett Wilson down the field, with his ability, he's a smart guy, he learns quickly, he'd be great in an Andy Reid-style offense," the Super Bowl champion said, adding that they've "never had a receiver like him."

Long focused on the player himself. He said Garrett Wilson wants to win, and Russell Wilson jumped in to say the young receiver "deserves to win." Both hosts noted that winning does not look close for the Jets.

"Garrett Wilson don't waste your youth, go get that Lombardi, there's a guy waiting for you to throw the football," Long said.

For now, this is a proposal from a studio, not a report of talks. The NFL trade deadline is close, so the answer will come soon.
