#NSTviral: 'Honk twice to congratulate me': First-car celebration goes viral

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: A cheeky note on a man's first car turned an ordinary drive in Segamat, Johor, into a moment of celebration when a truck driver behind him honked twice to congratulate him.

"I bought a new car. Honk twice to congratulate me," read the message on the vehicle, which was filmed travelling along a road in Segamat.

The truck driver duly obliged, giving the man and his colleagues the reaction they had hoped for.

The clip, shared by Threads user @alfiqzareeq_, has garnered more than 1.1 million views and 36,000 likes.

In the comments, the user revealed that the car belonged to a colleague whose first vehicle purchase had prompted an office-wide celebration.

"The whole office came to celebrate delivery day. The surprise honking sign, flower garland and posters were all our colleagues' ideas," he wrote.

Another video shared in the comments showed colleagues documenting the occasion, from the owner signing the purchase paperwork to trying out his new car.

"Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our friend getting his first car. This will motivate him to work harder to earn a living," the user added.
